Assignment- ‘HOT TAMALE’ LOGO BUMPER
In the first stages of this project, it was my job to come up with a
logo design for a restaurant called ‘Hot Tamale’. In choosing my design, I did
a little research on how hot tamale’s were made. I felt it was fitting for the
sake of inspiration.
The first and second
were targeted with the goal set in mind to use fire in some way or another.
After viewing assignments in class, it was clear that perhaps I might
have taken it too littoral, having including visuals like a frying pan pouring
meat onto a husk, and corn mill as the recipes would call for.
However, with further
suggestions and critiques from the class, I was further inspired as someone
motioned that my text reminded them of some Aztec designs. So, to simplify I
came up with an idea to use a simple spiral.

During my journey to search for the perfect logo design, and latter
storyboards, I had to scratch and start over maybe at an average of three times
each. At one point I even tried to record coals igniting in a spiral
shape. For the first storyboard, A box
falling from the sky still including the spiral idea just wasn’t enough. In the
end, simply enough the class suggested why not just zoom out. So, that’s what I went with.
After the general
idea and direction of the logo bumper was confirmed. I began tackling the
project, using a combination of Photoshop and after affects
Was the final plan,
having excluded the 3D idea for simplicity sake.
In a way I was glad
that the general plan was finished early. Because, it gave me plenty of time to
continue the trial and error testing phase. Which I believe sparks touch up
ideas to really highlight the final product.
Clean cut, crisp and
simple just the way I like it.
